Das Øyafestivalen ist ein jährliches im August stattfindendes Musikfestival in Oslo, Norwegen. Das Øyafestival ist der Nachfolger des Kalvøyafestivals.
Geschichte
Das Kalvøyafestivals fand von 1971 bis 1997 auf der Insel Kalvøya statt. Ab 1999 fand das neue Øyafestivalen zunächst ebenfalls auf der Insel statt. Øya steht für „Insel”. Im Jahr 2001 ist das Festival in dem im Jahr 2000 erbauten Middelalderparken umgezogen.[1] Der Name wurde beibehalten, auch wenn das Festival nicht mehr auf einer Insel sondern mittlerweile in der Stadt stattfindet. Für 2014 ist aufgrund von Eisenbahnarbeiten ein vorübergehender[2] Umzug zum Tøyenpark geplant.[3]
Das Festival geht mittlerweile (Stand 2013) über vier Tage[3] und besteht aus mehreren Hauptbühnen. Bevor das Festival beginnt, wird in Oslo eine Klubnacht veranstaltet.[3]
Das Festival hat im Jahr 2011 den mit 100.000 Norwegische Kronen dotierten Kulturpreis der Stadt Oslo erhalten.[4]

Nach der Klubnacht eröffnete Mikhael Paskalev das Festival, welches 2013 vom 6. August bis 10. August stattgefunden hat. Den Schlusspunkt setzte The Knife.[3] Zum zwölften Mal in Folge wurden alle Karten zum Festival bereits im Voraus verkauft.[12] Headliners waren Blur und Kraftwerk.[13]
